David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts - Tampa, FL
The David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts (formerly the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center) and the largest performing arts center in the Southeast, is seeking to fill the position of Director of Programming. This is a new position for the organization with focus on developing new audience and revenue base through programming with an emphasis on contemporary shows as well as to seek out other quality offerings for our other programming strands.
Reporting to the Vice-President, Programming, the Director will also manage all aspects of event fulfillment from artistic decision making, negotiating fees and deal structures, contracting, and processing payments. Responsibilities also include creating estimates, budgets and settlements.
Consistently ranked among the five largest performing arts complexes in the United States and currently ranked 10th in the world, the Straz Center is located in downtown Tampa, Florida on a picturesque nine-acre site along the east bank of the Hillsborough River. The Straz Center features one of the nation's leading Broadway series and is regarded nationally for producing grand opera, as well as presenting a wide variety of concerts, performances and events. Qualifications
A degree in Theater Management is preferred or equivalent industry experience. A minimum of 3-5 years of similar experience working in a equivalent position in a fast paced, multi venue environment. The successful candidate will possess demonstrated leadership ability and team building skills to effectively supervise staff members and interact with all levels of management; creative and innovative with strong verbal and written communication skills; solution driven with well developed problem solving skills and the ability to develop conceptual alternatives.
